There are thirty seats at Lucien, up a flight from Girard Avenue in La Jolla Village, and this year they became some of the most sought after in California. The restaurant has earned its first Michelin star, the only new San Diego restaurant to receive one.

Chef Elijah Arizmendi, who named the restaurant for his son, cooked at Spago, Per Se, Robuchon and Daniel before coming home to build something of his own. His tasting menu runs ten courses or more and changes with the season, written around the farmers and fishermen of San Diego.

Reservations are released in advance, and they go quickly.
